Student life

 German writer Goethe wrote,
“He who does not know foreign languages does not know anything about his own.”

That is true also about world cultures. The opportunity to experience day-to-day life in a different country, in a different language, is a gift; it widens one’s perspective and understanding of people. By choosing to come to the Boston area, students open themselves to the best the USA has to offer. There is something for everyone, no matter where your interests lie.

Rich with tradition, culture, and history, the Boston area is also the home to many attractions, such as world-class museums, restaurants, and shopping, in addition to breath-taking nature and wildlife. Experience four distinct seasons in all their beauty and learn to identify a true Boston accent. Cheer for iconic sports teams like the Boston Red Sox at legendary Fenway Park. Have a picnic at the Lexington Common, where the first shots that started the American Revolution were fired or enjoy an afternoon of shopping followed by people-watching at one of the trendy restaurants on Newbury Street. With so many options available to visitors, deciding on what to do or where to go may seem like a daunting task. Approach selects the most interesting and unique activities for its students to participate in so that they can make the most of their time in Boston.

The Approach van takes students to areas outside Boston on fun-filled trips to scenic beaches during the summer or to the mountains, for an exciting day of skiing, during the winter. When you get tired of playing tourist and just want to "blend in with the locals," our teachers and staff organize casual outings, such as going out for dinner or playing pool, so you can hang out with your fellow students and relax a little. Socialize, explore, learn, and enjoy Boston, all while gaining fluency and practicing your English in a relevant context.
